Tucson Electric Power
Wilson Electric was selected by DPR Construction to provide electric services for the new Tucson Electric Power (TEP) facility. The project included six buildings as well as site work. The site work encompassed site lighting, communications and utility power to all six buildings. The largest portion of the project was a new ground up 56,000KSF Operations Center. The project scope contained dual utility feed parallel switchgear and a data center for all of TEP operations. Additionally there was a remodel and renovation of the existing 44,000KSF office headquarters building, a new 39,000KSF office building adjacent to the Operation Center that includes offices and cubicles for TEP personnel, a new 16,000KSF connection building which connects the office headquarters building with the Operations Center, a new 4,000KSF training facility with a large conference room and small kitchenette as well as a new 1,000KSF metal fab building at the site entrance for visitor badging.
Lucid Motors
Wilson Electric’s Tucson Industrial Division recently completed the fast-track Lucid Motors project in Casa Grande, AZ. The facility spans approximately 590 acres. Lucid is launching with a production capacity of 30,000 vehicles, but already has plans to scale that up to 400,000 vehicles through a series of expansions that go until 2028. Lucid Motors Casa Grande factory was completed in December 2020 and is commissioning the equipment to begin manufacturing tens of thousands of electric vehicles starting in Arizona this spring. The project which began in December 2019 includes 1 million square feet and the factory was built with expansion in mind, and the company says it will expand and produce a Lucid SUV in 2023, which it is referring to as Project Gravity. Four expansion phases are planned at the factory through 2028, with the square footage growing from nearly 1 million square feet today to more than 5 million square feet, and a final capacity of 400,000 cars a year.
Amazon GYR3 Distribution Center
Wilson Electric was selected by Willmeng Construction to buildout the new massive 1.1 million square foot Amazon Fulfillment Warehouse in Phoenix. The e-commerce giant has a large valley presence and employs thousands in Arizona. This $15M+, fast-track project kicked off in December 2019 and was completed in September 2020. The scope of the project included the installation of three additional 480 Volt service entrance sections (2-3600 Amp & 1-1000 Amp), adding sections to existing 1600 Amp & 1200 Amp 480V SES’s, new 600 kW generator, 2,500+ added light fixtures, (7) MDP conveyance power distribution and 100+ site light poles. In May of 2019, we also completed the 569,301 square foot Amazon South Mountain fulfillment warehouse project.
Northrop Grumman Launch Vehicles Division
Wilson Electric was selected by Willmeng Construction to provide electrical services for the new 633,000 square foot Chandler campus that has multiple buildings. The project includes engineering, manufacturing and office space serving a variety of purposes to help Northrop Grumman meet the nation’s defense needs. The 47-acre site sits at the southwest corner of Price and Willis roads. The new facility was the second largest build-to-suit project in Metro Phoenix history and the facility will employ nearly 10,000 people at full capacity. The project included site work, two office buildings, production/manufacturing building, equipment fit out and parking.
Union Distributing Phoenix and Tucson
Wilson Electric’s Solar Division completed two projects for Union Distributing, a full-service retail and commercial provider of gasoline and oils. The Phoenix and Tucson locations received similar roof-mounted systems. In Tucson, the system was designed at a 10-degree tilt to produce 90 kW of electricity. The Phoenix location was slightly larger, and the additional square footage increased the number of modules installed, producing 163 kW of electricity.
ME Elecmetal
Wilson Electric was selected to provide new substation equipment for this large manufacturing facility in Tempe, Arizona. 69,000 volt primary, 10 million watt substations serve power to arc furnaces used in the production of mining equipment.
L-3 Communications
L-3 Communications’ (ACSS) 96,000 square foot research, development and manufacturing facility develops, produces and tests state-of-the-art tactical collision avoidance systems for commercial aviation clients. Wilson Electric was part of the Design-Assist team, including technical equipment installations. Medium-to-high voltage work included 28-volt DC power distribution and 400 HZ power generation and distribution.
Riverside Distribution and Manufacturing Center
Wilson Electric Services Corp provided Design-Build electrical build-out and fire alarm services for the 502,239 square foot shell on 26 acres.
SubZero Refrigerator Manufacturing Plant
SubZero Refrigerator Manufacturing Plant in Goodyear, AZ has a 400,000 square foot showroom in addition to production facilities.
