Confidential Data Center

Wilson Electric was selected by Clayco to provide electrical services to build out the remaining site located in Maricopa County for a confidential data center project. We provided installation of the 35kV medium voltage electrical system feeding the new 18MW (megawatt) data halls spanning 155,000 square feet.

The project is a TI of an existing warehouse, being transformed into a fully functional data center facility. Wilson’s scope includes the complete installation of the mission-critical infrastructure for three (3) data halls (6MW) on the south side of this facility. We have installed close to a mile of underground medium voltage duct bank pathways, as well as seven (7) new underground vaults, set and installed seven (7) of the (16) 2,285kW backup generators, eight (8) CAM cabinets, and seven (7) 35Kv medium voltage utility transformers. Each generator has a 7,800-gallon fuel tank that allows the data halls to be fully backed up for at least 48 hours. Within the building, we are installing a 3000A reserve busway to each mechanical gallery that powers up the critical mechanical equipment for each data hall. Our scope also includes the installation of the fire alarm/VESDA system, lighting system, security access & control, and lightning protection system.

Confidential Data Center

Wilson Electric was selected by Clayco to provide electrical services for a confidential data center build and medium voltage duct bank, as well as campus site work.

Among five buildings on campus, this 36MW, stacked 2-story DC2 facility covers 286,000 square feet. Wilson’s scope included the complete installation of the mission-critical infrastructure for four (4) data halls, each 9MW, as well as the complete buildout of the front- and back-of-house areas. We installed more than a mile of underground duct banks for both medium-voltage power and telecommunications. The facility features 29 generators and utility transformers, all connected to the building via an above-ground cable bus. Inside the facility, we installed a 2000A reserve busway in each mechanical gallery. Wilson’s scope also includes the installation of the fire alarm/VESDA system, lighting system, security access & control, and lightning protection system.

Frye Road Data Center
Our relationship at this Mission Critical complex in the Chandler Technological Corridor spans many years with multiple owners and renovations. This particular site holds two buildings totaling 175,000 square feet and a separate parking structure. Total construction included a call center, followed by the shell then the complete build-out for the upgrade and renovation of the 12 MW Tier III data center – all completed ahead of schedule in just 13 months. This Design Build project utilized one of the first 6D levels of BIM.
Progressive Casualty Insurance
This 180,000 square foot, two-story shell was remodeled and expanded 59,000 square feet to accommodate 800 employees in a data and call center environment. Electrical scope included major data server, uninterruptable power supply and a large MDF room for the required fiber runs. The site has two 1500 KVA generators for backup power. Early integration of our construction team in the Design-Assist process delivered the project within the fast-track schedule and under budget.
Phoenix NAP
15,000 volt UPS (uninterruptable power supply) systems are not commonly used but provide a stable, reliable power source for this multi-user data center. The initial design called for two 13.8 kV UPS systems, each rated 2.5 MVA/2.0MW expandable to 12.5 MVA/10.0 MW each by adding four 2.5 MVA UPS containers to each system in the future.
GoDaddy Data Center
Our relationship with GoDaddy is very unique. We started working for the internet giant almost 10 years ago when they were converting an existing facility into a 300,000 square-foot regional data center. The expansion and renovation was divided into seven phases over six years, from 15,000 square feet to 90,000 square feet. Each phase focused on upgrading the multiple generator units, paralleling switchgear, and uninterruptable power supply operating each server room. Currently, we still provide ongoing maintenance at the facility and execute equipment upgrades as needed. To date, GoDaddy has never experienced an outage while serviced by Wilson Electric.
