We are excited to share the opportunity for an experienced Total Station Operator to join our team and look forward to reviewing your resume.

As a Total Station Operator with Wilson Electric, you are responsible for collecting coordinates and providing precise layout in the field for conduit, equipment, light fixtures and more with a high level of precision for commercial electrical jobs. This position integrates constantly with our VDC/BIM department to create accurate drawings and electrical installations.

Your experience in the following areas will drive your success in this role.

  • Ability to operate a Robotic Total Station without assistance
  • Layout construction sites for installation requirements
  • Loading field data into computer
  • Check measurements and review and verify against plans
  • Relaying data/information to VDC/BIM department
  • Maintaining accurate field notes

We have outlined the skill-set necessary for a candidate's success in this role below. 

  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience or an Associates Degree in a related technical field plus two years related experience preferred
  • CST Level II certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic Electrical codes and layouts
  • Utilize all survey instruments and tools, calculators, field books, plans and plats
  • Strong math skills including ability to perform all associated mathematical calculations
  • Valid Driver License
  • Must be able to travel between site locations
  • Able to work alone or on a team
  • Comfortable working on construction sites

Physical Requirements

Work requires exposure to construction site environments having temperature extremes, dust, fumes, smoke, hazardous substances, and loud noise levels. Up to 70% of the job may include heavy physical work, heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of material that may weigh from 50 to 100 pounds. The position requires the incumbent to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds or aerial lifts, stand or walk for long periods, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours at a time.

The position requires the unrestricted use of hands, arms, shoulders and the upper and lower back as well as visual acuity and depth perception. Pulmonary capacity must be sufficient to permit the use of an air-purifying respirator if required.
