Wilson Electric Services Corp integrates safety with every aspect of its mission to provide the highest quality installations and service to its customer base and to the community. While compliance with OSHA and MSHA Standards is important, we have found that our effort to exceed mandated government safety standards makes good business sense as well. Improvements in quality control and employee well-being are just two of the many benefits realized through the implementation of rigorous safety initiatives.
Wilson maintains two management level positions to ensure that safety and loss control issues are professionally handled. Safety technicians are also trained to provide additional on-site presence according to the demands of construction and service activity.
The following resources are regarded as keys to successful safety operations:
- Financial commitment by top management to fund the time and training necessary to achieve successful results.
- Management support of the policies and practices necessary to achieve consistent results.
- Buy-in and cooperation of field management to ensure that safe work practices are carried out at each worksite through site-specific planning and follow through. Weekly “Tool-Box” safety talks and Weekly Hazard Disclosure/Assessments for all field employees.
- Workplace safety inspections that emphasize electrical safety, safe work behavior assessments and general site safety.
- Extensive safety training, including company and jobsite safety orientations and a formal 16 or 30-hour combination of construction and general industry safety training through the Southwest Safety Training Alliance (SSTA). Additional training is given for Defensive Driver, Asbestos Awareness, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Trucks and other elements as needed.
- Company commitment to a Drug Free Workplace, requiring pre-employment, post-accident and probable-cause drug and alcohol screening.
- Active working relationships with the State Compensation Fund and our major providers of health delivery services. Immediate and detailed follow-up of all injury accidents and provision for Early Return To Work (ERTW) for all injured employees at the earliest opportunity.
